Abstract

Symmetry can play an important role in the field of nonlinear systems and especially in the design of nonlinear circuits that produce chaos. Therefore, this Special Issue, titled "Symmetry in Chaotic Systems and Circuits", presents the latest scientific advances in nonlinear chaotic systems and circuits that introduce various kinds of symmetries. Applications of chaotic systems and circuits with symmetries, or with a deliberate lack of symmetry, are also presented in this Special Issue. The volume contains 14 published papers from authors around the world. This reflects the high impact of this Special Issue.

Abstract

This book focuses on several key aspects of nonlinear systems including dynamic modeling, state estimation, and stability analysis. It is intended to provide a wide range of readers in applied mathematics and various engineering disciplines an excellent survey of recent studies of nonlinear systems. With its thirteen chapters, the book brings together important contributions from renowned international researchers to provide an excellent survey of recent studies of nonlinear systems. The first section consists of eight chapters that focus on nonlinear dynamic modeling and analysis techniques, while the next section is composed of five chapters that center on state estimation methods and stability analysis for nonlinear systems.

Abstract

Complex systems are pervasive in many areas of science integrated in our daily lives. Examples include financial markets, highway transportation networks, telecommunication networks, world and country economies, social networks, immunological systems, living organisms, computational systems and electrical and mechanical structures. Complex systems are often composed of a large number of interconnected and interacting entities, exhibiting much richer global scale dynamics than the properties and behavior of individual entities. Complex systems are studied in many areas of natural sciences, social sciences, engineering and mathematical sciences. This special issue therefore intends to contribute towards the dissemination of the multifaceted concepts in accepted use by the scientific community. We hope readers enjoy this pertinent selection of papers which represents relevant examples of the state of the art in present day research.

Abstract

This book is devoted to the phenomenon of synchronization and its application for determining the values of Lyapunov exponents. In recent years, the idea of synchronization has become an object of great interest in many areas of science, e.g., biology, communication or laser physics. Over the last decade, new types of synchronization have been identified and some interesting new ideas concerning the synchronization have also appeared. This book presents the complete synchronization problem rather than just results from the research. The problem is demonstrated in relation to a kind of coupling

Abstract

Abstract

The domain of nonlinear dynamical systems and its mathematical underpinnings has been developing exponentially for a century, the last 35 years seeing an outpouring of new ideas and applications and a concomitant confluence with ideas of complex systems and their applications from irreversible thermodynamics. A few examples are in meteorology, ecological dynamics, and social and economic dynamics. These new ideas have profound implications for our understanding and practice in domains involving complexity, predictability and determinism, equilibrium, control, planning, individuality, responsib

Abstract

The origin of the word synchronization is a greek root, meaning ""to share the common time"". The original meaning of synchronization has been maintained up to now in the colloquial use of this word, as agreement or correlation in time of different processes. Historically, the analysis of synchronization phenomena in the evolution of dynamical systems has been a subject of active investigation since the earlier days of physics. Recently, the search for synchronization has moved to chaotic systems. In this latter framework, the appearance of collective (synchronized) dynamics is, in gen

Abstract

In this book, we study theoretical and practical aspects of computing methods for mathematical modelling of nonlinear systems. A number of computing techniques are considered, such as methods of operator approximation with any given accuracy; operator interpolation techniques including a non-Lagrange interpolation; methods of system representation subject to constraints associated with concepts of causality, memory and stationarity; methods of system representation with an accuracy that is the best within a given class of models; methods of covariance matrix estimation;methods for low-rank
